MET Gala 2015

I baked chocolate chip cupcakes with chocolate ganache for my mom yesterday.
She ate it today and said......

"NOT NICE EH."

My heart broke.

She said the cake is too hard.
I actually agree on that.
I shall improve by baking more.
Just...... not now...
CUZ CLASS STARTS TOMORROW.

Anyway....
MET GALA 2015 is officially over and I am glad because part of it is a DISASTER.
The theme for this year is 'China: Through the looking glass' and I personally think some of the invited stars didn't really get the point of China.
To me,
China is a nation that is burst with rich culture, innovation, and histories.
There are many, many ways to bring out the Chinese identity.:
like the colours, symbols, patterns, food, and their language.
Tradition or the modern side of China is optional (I prefer the balance between both).
Unfortunately, some of the celebrities missed it.
Probably because they didn't have any Pokeballs or their stylists hate them very, very much.

I love this so, so, so much!!!!!! (despite it ruled 9GAG)
On fleek and on point!
Reminds me of the arrogant and the confident of an emperor/empress.
Bravoooooo~

A suit but also a not-so-boring-suit.
Unlike the tux like most of the male celebs wore,
JB suit is really stood out.
The golden embroidery dragon and the chang-shan collar + design = 200% perfection.
Modern and suits him well.

Out of the celebs that dressed in red,
Miss Hart here is one of them that aced it.
As a person that watch shit loads of Chinese drama and movies,
no one carries Ba-gua pattern in such elegance and effortless.
Because usually it looks like this,

The colour beige and cranes is a staple living creature that you can constantly see in Chinese dramas that took place in the olden days.
Now THIS is the balance that I'm looking for.
Simple yet elegant.

S L A Y E D.
A really exquisite piece and she owned it without breaking a sweat.
It's like this gown is tailored for her and ONLY her.
The overall concept of this gown is 'The Forbidden City'.
The colours, patterns embroider on the emerald cape and the golden shimmery dress is just stunnng.
Fan Bingbing + Christopher Bu = Dream Team/ Red Carpet Goal/ Show-stopper.

Emily Blunt in Prada

I really like the colour combination of this piece by Prada.
It matches well with Emily Blunt's dewy white skin.
Combining sky blue and navy blue with white floral embroideries.
Light and simply beautiful.

Another amazing piece with fine embroideries of white cranes and plum flowers.
It brings out the graceful atmosphere in the Chinese poems, which has a strong cultural sense to me.
Now THIS is what I call 'Chinese.'

With love,
uweng
